Mainframe(Systerm z, http://www-900.ibm.com/cn/systems/z/) is the famous giant and legend in the industry. Now, more than 90% of the fortune 500 companies in the world are using the Mainframe. In China, the Big Four Banks are using the Mainframe, plus some biggest steel and automobile factories.
IBM continuously invests on mainframe in China, to support this high potential market with high GDP growth. Right now, we have more than 200 software engineers working on various products on z platform, such as DB2, CICS, Websphere and z/OS.
This team is focusing on providing the technical support to world wide customers for DB2/z. Those customers are all BIG companies like most of the fortune 500 in the world. In China, the FOUR BIG banks are all our customers.
This job is to provide world wide customers technical support. For those problems which L1 (the local engineers in country) can not handle or they think it’s product bug. We need to figure out if the problems are 1) know problems? 2) user erros or 3) a real new bug. For new bug, we need dig into the source code and find the root cause, then discuss with L3(change team) to confirm. Once confirm it’s a real bug, we’ll transfer to change team to fix it.
So, what we doing are: I. communicate with customers and L1 II. debug and find the root cause III. provide PTF or solution
MS degree with Computer Science or related background.
IBM Certification Preferred.
This Job need high skills in mainframe (z/OS, DB2 for z/OS ,etc.). Candidates who have mainframe background will have the priorities. For those high potential campus candidates (or less than 2 years working experience in other IT fields), we also can provide the opportunities and will arrange mainframe training for them.
